Natural Pyrite Crystals - Peru
Two carefully selected, premium-grade pyrite crystals from Peru.
Pyrite often forms isometric or cube-shaped crystals. This form is one of the simplest and most common crystal shapes.
Some crystals can look as if they've been cut into that shape. However, it's purely the result of their internal atomic structure repeating in three dimensions.
The way atoms are arranged inside a crystal determines its external shape.
The distinctive grooves often present on pyrite crystals are called striations. Pyrite often grows by alternating between slightly different crystal faces, and this alternating growth produces these parallel lines.
Changes in temperature, pressure, or chemical composition are believed to alter the rate and direction of crystal growth.
These pyrite crystals exhibit a metallic lustre and reflect beautifully.
